The Golden Globes 2016 - Best Dressed and Not Impressed

First of all, Happy Monday everyone! I'm sorry I haven't been active in a while. My life was pretty busy last year but this year I'm going to make a real effort to post at least once a week.

What better way to kick off the new year than the Golden Globe awards. I've hand picked 5 that stood out for me and also 5 outfits that didn't impress me this year.

Best Dressed

Jennifer Lawrence can do no wrong! She looked stunning in Dior Haute Couture gown. 

Jennifer Lopez another Jennifer that stole the show in this Giambattista Valli gown. 

Rosie Huntington-Whiteley is one of my favourite models and she just looked flawless in Versace.

Brie Larson also went for gold with this Calvin Klein dress.

Katy Perry I think everyone in the world knows Katy has an amazing figure and she really showed it off in this figure hugging Prada.

Product Review: Garnier Ultimate Blends Marvellous Transformer Shampoo & Conditioner

So I received a free sample of this Shampoo and Conditioner and as I'd ran out of my Aussie Shampoo I'd thought I'd give this a go..

Packaging and Price:
The packaging is pretty standard for Shampoo and Conditioner. Nothing exciting to me. The colours are orange and gold, I think they're going for a Moroccany, oils and aroma look which reflects the product. The bottles sizes are 250ml and 400ml. The 250ml bottles retail for £2.79 and 400ml with RRP of £3.99 but Superdrug.com have them currently on offer for £1.92!!

The product
Overall, I have to say I liked both. The shampoo however does not lather well, it just feels like oil so I was a bit sceptical about my hair looking greasy as it applied all over my scalp. Luckily The conditioner was the perfect consistency. The smell of both was fresh, floral and sweet (almost like honey).

My hair feels clean, light and hydrated so pretty much job done. I suffer from dry ends and this has definitely helped to eliminate the 'dry 'hay/straw-like' ends so I would definitely recommend if you're looking to give your hair a fresh boost. Thumbs up from me!

Pandora Unboxing

Pandora Unboxing

Today I thought I'd do an "unboxing post" for Pandora Jewellery which I'm sure you've all heard of. This unboxing also comes with A bit of a story so we go..

Basically my dad got me a Pandora bracelet with some charms for my 18th birthday, I loved it and it made people buying me presents so easy as they could just pick me a charm and it would have a use not just vouchers and money etc.

Then the bad part, I cannot find it!! I'm gutted! I thought once me and my partner moved into together it would just 'turn up' but we've empties both rooms and it's nowhere to be seen :( not only have I lost all my charms but people kept buying me them thinking I still had the bracelet! 

I've just celebrated my 21st and yet again I received Pandora charms which I was gutted I couldn't use. So I decided it was time to accept my bracelet is lost and to replace it! It received a lot of my money for my birthday (not stating the figure as I'm not one to brag but it was A LOT which I'm so grateful for!) so decided that I would buy a new bracelet with it and show off my new 21st charms etc and slowing build it back up by treating myself every so often with a charm that I previously had as they all meant so much to me. I know exactly which charms I had and who bought them!

I love having my bracelet back, it's not just jewellery, it's memories that I can carry around with me everyday and I will definitely be taking more care and investing in a jewellery box to keep it safe! (If anyone can recommend a nice jewellery box, please let me know!!)

So let's do this....

Packing/presentation

I'd give Pandora a 5/5 for this.

It's simple, elegant and of good quality! I love that  all Pandora jewellery comes in a bag as well as a box. The bag looks elegant and is a nice size to show off discreetly that you've bought some new jewellery. It also comes with a nice ribbon which just ties it together beautifully.

As I ordered online, my bag came flat but the box was gift wrapped in Pandora paper and a pink ribbon (that seems to be their signature thing!).

The product

I'd give the bracelet itself 3/5. 

I like the bracelet, it's sterling silver with a Pandora branded locking clasp. I got the 19cm which is the most common size. I have enough room for lots of charms without it hanging off my arm. The only thing I don't like is the clasp, it's very tight and loosens over time so with this one, I've been sliding it off my wrist to take off which you're not supposed to do! There are safety chains available to purchase from Pandora so they've covered they're backs there but I definitely won't be purchasing one. 

As for the charms, I can't really rate them as they're so many and it's really down to personal preference and style. I think they're some really great designs and a few not so attractive ones but they obviously appeal to others so it's a tough one to comment on.

The company

My overall rating for Pandora is 3/5.

I love the variety of charms they have and believe they are of good quality along with the bracelet. Their overall image is classy, elegant, fun and memorial which appeals to all ages.

Things I dislike are the price of some of the charms they range from £20+ which is why so many people to buy charms from markets or other brands as they are so much cheaper and look exactly the same, I wish they had a more affordable range I think more people would charms as gifts etc and not resort to fakes/dupes.

Would I recommend?

Yes, definitely. The bracelet is a lovely gift for a special occasion like a big birthday or graduation and then charms can be purchased as future gifts or they can treat themselves to a charm they like. Or if you're thinking of buying one for yourself, go for it! You can choose from silver to leather, whatever your taste, they'll be something for you.

Cleaning My Makeup Brushes

Hi Everyone!

As it's Saturday and my day off work I thought I'd get some cleaning done, don't worry I'm not going to bore you with my cleaning chores but what I am going to talk about is cleaning makeup brushes.

I'm not going to lie, I find it a bit of a chore and hate doing it but it's got to be done. I try to clean mine every weekend if possible. Cleaning your brushes regularly will eliminate bits of makeup, oil, dirt, and nasty bacteria that gets trapped in the bristles. This causes clogged pores and bad breakouts which nobody wants! Cleaning also prolongs the life and quality of your brushes so if you've invested in expensive high end brushes, you'll want them to last you!

I've broke this down into 5 easy steps, so here we go..

What you need:

• An old towel - I have a towel that I use to colour my hair so I don't mind it getting covered!

• Baby shampoo or Baby bath products. - I would normally use baby shampoo but I'm all out so have used baby bath instead. There are specially formulated brush shampoos out there but I think baby shampoo works just fine and definitely more budget-friendly!

• Sink with running water
• Wash dish

What to do:

1. Begin by running your brushes under lukewarm water, rinsing out all of the residual makeup from your brushes. 

Top trick: Never let the water go beyond where the handle meets the head of your brush (basically, don't let the handle get wet). Focus on the actual bristles only as going beyond that point can loosen the glue over time which causes brushes to shed, not what we want!

2. Squirt shampoo or other cleaning product into your wash dish at the side/just above your sink, and gently swirl your brush tip in the soapy substance. If you need to, you can also swirl the brush in the palm of your hand to work up a lather - I find this works best!

3. Rinse the brush tip under running water once again. Repeat steps one and two until the water runs clear from the brush.

4. Use a cloth to wipe your brush clean, reshaping the bristles as you go.

5. Lay your brushes flat on a cloth to dry.

And thats it! Your makeup brushes will be nice and clean!

One quick point to mention is that it takes a good couple of hours for brushes to dry so would recommend doing it after you've applied your makeup for that day.
