Bare Minerals Makeup - First Impressions and Mini Review

So today I visited the BareMinerals counter today at my local Debenhams for a makeup class. I've never been to BareMinerals before so I was intrigued to see what they had.

The reason I've always stayed clear of BareMinerals is because I thought it wouldn't be any good for my skin. I have very dry skin so the thought of a powdery foundation just wasn't appealing to me.

The lady at the counter was so lovely. She sat me and my mum down and talked to us about what type of skin we have, what are skincare routine is and what products we use. She showed us the products best suited to our skin and the look and feel we wanted from our skincare.

For me she suggested:
Cleanser - Clay Chameleon £18
Treatment - Skin Longerity £45
Moisturiser - Bare Haven £30

I was really impressed with all the skincare products. They revived my dull dry skin and actually gave me a lovely healthy glow! (Which if you have dry skin like me, its something that's pretty hard to get!!)

With the base done, we moved onto the makeup. I was pleasantly surprised by most of the makeup products which I will explain fully the product breakdown.

For me she suggested:

Primer - Neutralising £22
As well as my skin being very dull and dry, I also suffer from redness and dark circles so we tried the neutralising primer, as it is tinted the tiny bit of colour did an alright job of evening out my skin tone and also had calming ingredient so try and keep redness at bay. I seemed to do what it claimed but nothing to rave about. Also not worth the price tag in my opinion.

Foundation - Complexion Rescue £26
As a powder foundation is a big no no for my skin, the lady suggested the liquid foundation. I didn't even know BareMinerals had a liquid foundation! So I was eager to see what it could do. I like full coverage to cover my redness, dark circles and dryness. The foundation was a good colour match and seemed to cover well but definitely not full coverage. Ny redness was still showing through the foundation and primer! The lady kept working on the coverage, building it up but it started looking cakey in my dry patches so i didn't want anymore applied. I was hoping concealer would finish the job in the areas where I still needed coverage.

Concealer - Bare Skin (Light) £22
The lady swore by the concealer and said it would cover my dark circles and redness and it did do a good job with my dark circles but still didn't cover my redness.

Bronzer - High Dive £24
I have a love hate relationship with bronzers. I've never found one that's the right colour match for me. Its either too orange or too cool toned brown and ends up looking like a strip on my face. So anyways, shifting away from my point, I really liked this bronzer. It looked so natural on my skin, it just blended so seamlessly I looked naturally sunkissed. So that got a big thumbs up from me.

Blush - Indecent proposal £22
Firstly, love the name! This colour is a mauve pink. I usually for go for coral shades but now my hair is a cool tone blonde I've shifted to a cool tones blush and I really liked it. It looked natural and I think that's all you can ask for from a blush.

Eye Primer - Sweetspice £17
As we were just focusing on the face makeup today, the assistant any put a primer on my eyes to cancel out any veins but I can't say how it held up as nothing was applied over the top.

Brows - Light Brown Gel
I wasn't really impressed with the brow gel. As you can see on this photograph, my brows were all over the place within an hour of the application. So definitely wouldn't recommend this.

Lip Liner - Mulled £13
Nice colour but not the best liner I've used. Not very pigmented.

Lipstick - Speak Your Mind £17
Firstly, I like the name. I also liked the lipstick although it has a sheen to it but as BareMinerals don't do a matte lipstick I thought I'd have this a try. It was very creamy and didn't have that weird lipstick taste that most have so although I wasn't thrilled with the sheen, it was definitely wearable.

Here is the overall finished look.

My skin is glowing and no dry patches! (Yes!!) The cakey look faded very quickly as I'm guessing my dry skin soaked in any excess product. Although BareMinerals is expensive I definitely think the skincare and base products are worth it for a healthy, natural look.

I hope this review/first impressions has been helpful but if you want to try any of the products out in store definitely book in to see one of the assistants who will match you up correctly.

Thanks for reading, CS xx
